POM is a white semi-crystalline copolymer, used twice as much by machinists nowadays than polyamide. It has similar mechanical characteristics as polyamide but has the advantage of being more stable in a damp environment and it is also easier to process : it is for this reason that machinists prefer it. It is also available in different colors.
POM can withstand high mechanical constrains. It is rigid, creep resistant and also resists various stresses without deforming. It is stable. It has a low friction coefficient, which gives it a good resistance to wear (repeated stress on its surface ) and to abrasive wear ( frictions or shocks on its surface). It is resistant to chemical products (hydrocarbons, oils, grease…). It is sensitive to UV’s : for outdoor use it is preferable to use in black.
It can be in contact with foods when in its natural state. It is also a good electrical insulator. For all of these reasons, POM is the material used for mechanical engineering and precision engineering.

This filament exists in POM 1.75 mm and 3 mm.
Each reel is labeled with traceability data. The filament is conditioned on a 1kg plastic reel, in a vacuum bag with desiccant pouches, and cardboard packaging.
